Redefining Zone Picking with AMR Agility, Cart Flexibility, and Faster ROI
We are pleased to announce the official launch of LumiRover, our AMR-enabled pick-to-light cart designed for high-throughput fulfillment operations. LumiRover marks the beginning of a broader innovation roadmap, advancing Autonomous Zone Picking through the combination of light-directed picking and AMR-enabled zone orchestration.
This integrated approach brings together the accuracy and simplicity of pick-to-light systems with the mobility and intelligence of AMRs, reducing reliance on manual travel, improving pick accuracy, and breaking traditional human-to-robot ratios. The result is higher throughput, greater labor efficiency, and measurable cost savings for high-volume operations.
In its initial release, LumiRover enables a zone-based picking model in which pickers remain stationed in their assigned zones while AMR-driven, pick-light-enabled carts move autonomously between locations. Using pre-mapped warehouse coordinates, each cart navigates precisely through picking stops, reducing unnecessary worker travel, shortening pick cycle times, and improving operational flow without the constraints of fixed infrastructure or proprietary systems.
What distinguishes LumiRover in the market is its AMR-agnostic architecture, powered by VCO’s technology platform. Rather than being tied to a specific robot or attachment, VCO enables seamless integration with multiple AMR partners while also designing and deploying custom top modules to support diverse workflows. This includes not only AZP-based picking, but also the ability to move products across lanes for manufacturing, kitting, and other operational requirements. This positions VCO as a true AMR-agnostic solution provider, not just a third-party integration layer. Currently deployed with platforms such as MiR and PUDU, the solution is built to scale and adapt as automation technologies continue to evolve.
“LumiRover represents a new way to execute Autonomous Zone Picking. By integrating pick-to-light with AMR orchestration, we are delivering a system that drives higher accuracy, better efficiency, and a step change in throughput. This is what enables our customers to scale without scaling cost.”

LumiRover also supports built-in load balancing within the pick-to-light system, distributing pending picks evenly across zones to eliminate idle time and sustain peak throughput. For operations that require additional flexibility, carts can be operated independently of the AMR when needed, enabling hybrid workflows based on order profiles or operational constraints.
Designed for retail fulfillment, e-commerce distribution, and third-party logistics environments, LumiRover delivers the capacity and throughput required for high-volume operations. Its larger cart form factor supports multiple totes and more order locations per run, increasing picks per hour and enabling more picks to be completed in a single pass through the warehouse. This reduces total pick time and can lower the number of robots required to achieve target throughput.
Operations can also deploy mixed configurations, combining larger carts for batch or cluster picking with smaller, agile setups for chasing shorts, skips, or fulfilling time-sensitive orders. This flexibility allows teams to optimize picking strategies based on order profiles and service level requirements.
As a trusted partner to fulfillment operations across retail and logistics, VCO Systems understands the real pressures operations teams face. LumiRover is our answer, a solution engineered from the floor up to deliver results that are measurable, scalable, and built to last.
